Rudolf Jäger

Rudolf Jäger was a German tenor who studied law before turning to singing at the Dresden Music School under Richard Müller. Engaged by the Dresden court stage from 1898, he made his debut the following year as the Helmsman in Der fliegende Holländer and created Narraboth in the premiere of Strauss's Salome in 1905. He moved to the Leipzig Opera in 1908, remaining until 1925, when ill health ended his performing career, and worked afterwards as a voice teacher, first in Dresden and, from 1945, in Leipzig, where he died.
