Aleksandr Fomin

Aleksandr Fomin was a Russian bass who sang Nikitich, the police officer, at the 1928 Leningrad premiere of the original 1869 Boris Godunov. He was Bertrand in the first Soviet staging of Tchaikovsky's Iolanta in 1923 under Samuil Samosud and returned to the part in concert twice in the 1930s, and he sang in the 1937 premiere of Chishko's The Battleship Potemkin. He stayed with the Leningrad opera company until 1954.
