Synopsis

The French officer Belfiore is posing as King Stanislaus of Poland in Baron Kelbar's castle. The Baron's daughter Giulietta is to marry the old treasurer La Rocca but loves his nephew Edoardo, and his niece the Marchesa, a widow who loves Belfiore, has engaged herself to Count Ivrea because Belfiore would not commit.
