Synopsis
France is losing its war with England. King Charles VII, told in a vision to surrender, comes to lay down his arms in the forest near Domrémy, where Joan, a shepherd's daughter, prays to be chosen to lead the French army. Her father fears that her devotion to the king has given her soul to the devil.
