Louis Bernier's house on the Place Boïeldieu, the third on the site, opened on 7 December 1898 with President Félix Faure present and standing today. The Paris Madama Butterfly of 1906 was given here, as were the first performances of Pelléas et Mélisande in 1902 and L'heure espagnole in 1911. The house at 1 place Boïeldieu is one of France's national theatres, and its official name is Théâtre national de l'Opéra-Comique; salle Favart is what everyone calls it.
