Teatro Regio
Inaugurated on 26 December 1740 and taken over by the city in 1870. Manon Lescaut was first given here in 1893 and La bohème in 1896, both in the house that fire destroyed in February 1936, leaving only the facade standing. It stayed shut for thirty-seven years; the present auditorium, built behind that facade to Carlo Mollino's design, opened on 10 April 1973.
