The Girl of the Golden West
A melodrama of the California gold rush in four acts, written, produced and directed by Belasco, which opened at his own theatre in New York on 14 November 1905 and ran for 224 performances with Blanche Bates as the Girl. Belasco made a novel of it in 1911, the year after Puccini's opera.
