Anna Zoder

Anna Zoder was an Austrian soprano who studied with Adolf Limlay in Vienna and Teresa Arkel in Milan, beginning her career in 1905 at the Zurich Stadttheater. She joined the Dresden Court Opera in 1908, creating the Fourth Maid in the premiere of Strauss's Elektra in 1909, and after leaving Dresden in 1911 appeared as a guest at the Vienna Court Opera, in Karlsruhe, Braunschweig, Weimar and Frankfurt, and on tour in Romania and Denmark. Her repertoire ran to heavier dramatic roles, including Isolde, Brünnhilde and Norma. She married the writer Otto Schabbel and settled in Munich, where she taught singing into at least the 1930s.
