Lucie Weidt

Lucie Weidt, born Marie-Luise Weidt, was an Austrian soprano trained first by her father, the German-born conductor Heinrich Weidt, and then by Rosa Papier. She was a regular member of the Vienna Court Opera from 1903 to 1926, succeeding Sophie Sedlmair and sharing the major Wagner roles with Anna Bahr-Mildenburg, and became a celebrated Leonore and the first Viennese Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier. She appeared in Munich, at the Metropolitan Opera in the 1910-11 season as Brünnhilde and Elisabeth, and at Buenos Aires in 1912, and created the Nurse in the world premiere of Strauss's Die Frau ohne Schatten in 1919.
