Carlo Walter
Birthplace: Venice, Kingdom of Italy
An Italian bass from Venice whose career ran for nearly forty years. From the 1890s he sang the serious bass repertoire in Italy and abroad, among it Colline, Ramfis, Don Pedro in L'Africaine and King Henry in Lohengrin, in Palermo, Odessa, Vienna, Alexandria and Madrid. In his later career he was a regular at La Scala, where he created Samzelius in Zandonai's I cavalieri di Ekebù in 1925 and Timur in Turandot on 25 April 1926. He was still singing there in 1931, as Dositeo in Boito's Nerone.
