An Italian bass from Naples whose career ran for more than forty years, later in comprimario parts. On 22 November 1898 he created the Blind Man in Mascagni's Iris at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome, repeating it at La Scala in 1899. He was a favourite at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo from 1901 to 1905, and in 1904 created Lo zio Bonzo in the revised Madama Butterfly at Brescia. At the Teatro San Carlo he stayed popular until 1934, singing in the premieres of Lattuada's Don Giovanni and Alfano's L'ultimo lord, and afterwards taught singing in Naples.
