Eugenia Tadolini
also Eugenia Savorani
Birthplace: Forlì, Kingdom of Italy (Napoleonic)
Eugenia Tadolini was an Italian soprano who created the title role of Verdi's Alzira at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples in 1845. A pupil of Giovanni Tadolini, whom she married, she made her debut in Florence in 1828 and sang in Paris from 1830. In Vienna she created the title roles of Donizetti's Linda di Chamounix and Maria di Rohan, both written for her, and from 1842 was based at the San Carlo. Verdi thought her voice too beautiful for Lady Macbeth, which she sang there in 1848. She left the stage in the early 1850s.
