also Adelina Stehle-Garbin
Birthplace: Graz, Austrian Empire
Adelina Stehle was an Austrian-born soprano whose career was made almost entirely in Italy. She made her debut as Amina at Broni in 1881, and reached La Scala in 1890. There she created Walter in Catalani's La Wally, Nannetta in Falstaff to the Fenton of her husband Edoardo Garbin, and the soprano leads in Mascagni's Guglielmo Ratcliff and Silvano. At the Teatro Dal Verme she was the first Nedda in Pagliacci. With Garbin she helped establish La bohème at Palermo in 1896. Her light voice grew into a verismo one, admired as Adriana Lecouvreur and Fedora.
