Gabriel Soulacroix was a French baritone who sang Ford in the first French Falstaff, at the Opéra-Comique in 1894. He studied at Toulouse, where he won four first prizes, and in Paris, and made his debut in 1878; at La Monnaie in Brussels he sang Beckmesser in the house's first Die Meistersinger. He joined the Opéra-Comique in 1885, was decorated for bravery in the fire at the Salle Favart in 1887, and created the lead in Messager's La basoche. At Monte Carlo he was Iago to Tamagno's Otello, and in 1902 created the Prior in Massenet's Le jongleur de Notre-Dame.
