Amedea Santarelli

An Italian singer who began in contralto roles and moved into soprano ones. She created Tigrana in the three-act Edgar at Ferrara in 1892, and in 1893 was Carmen and Azucena at Trieste. She sang Ero in Mancinelli's Ero e Leandro at La Fenice in 1898 and at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1899, and by 1902 sang Mimì at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. In Buenos Aires she was Cendrillon at the Teatro Colón in 1908 and Tosca at the Coliseo in 1910, and she sang Tosca at the Liceu in Barcelona in 1909.
