Giacomo Rimini
Birthplace: Verona, Kingdom of Italy
An Italian baritone, most celebrated as Falstaff, whose career was divided between Italy and Chicago. Born in Verona, he studied at the conservatory there and made his debut in 1910 at Desenzano as Albert in Werther. In 1915 Toscanini taught him Falstaff himself and conducted him in it at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan. From 1916 to 1932 he sang in Chicago beside the soprano Rosa Raisa, whom he married, and at La Scala in 1926 he created Ping in Turandot, with Raisa in the title role. He retired in 1937 and taught singing with her in Chicago.
