Aida Righi Tarugi

An Italian mezzo-soprano whose career ran from 1901 to at least 1930. She sang Dimitri in Fedora at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome in 1901, and in 1918 created Elena in Canonica's La sposa di Corinto at the Teatro Argentina there. She was Erda in Siegfried at the Teatro Regio in Turin in 1919, and the mistress of the novices when Il trittico reached Turin in 1920. At La Scala in 1922 she created the role again in the revised Suor Angelica and sang Ciesca in Gianni Schicchi. At Parma in 1923 she was Meg Page in Falstaff.
