Salvatore Ragonese is an Italian tenor, born in Palermo, who made his debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in 1988. The lyric repertoire was his grounding, Rodolfo, Alfredo, Pinkerton and Massenet's Des Grieux, and he took on heavier parts later, among them Don José, Gabriele Adorno and Loris. He sang widely in Germany and Italy, in Monte Carlo, Turin, Torre del Lago, Salzburg, at the Teatro Massimo in his home city, and further afield in South Africa and Australia. In 1992 he created Guacaganarì in Antonio Braga's 1492 epopea lirica d'America.
