Salvatore Persichetti

Italian · baritone

An Italian baritone, a pupil of Antonio Cotogni in Rome. He sang at the Teatro Costanzi from 1919, as Alfio, Silvio, Sharpless and Count Gil in Il segreto di Susanna, and in 1920 created Prunier, rewritten for baritone, in the revised La rondine at Palermo. Back at the Costanzi in 1922 he was Faninal in Der Rosenkavalier and Alberich in Siegfried, and that summer he sang at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. He was Germont at La Fenice in 1924, and at La Scala sang Sharpless in 1925 and Alberich in Das Rheingold in 1926.
