Flora Perini
Birthplace: Rome, Kingdom of Italy
An Italian mezzo-soprano who created two roles in nine seasons at the Metropolitan Opera. She studied at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome and made her debut at La Scala in 1908 as Anacoana in Franchetti's Cristoforo Colombo. Appearing at the Met from 1915, first as Lola in Cavalleria rusticana, she sang Amneris and Maddalena and created Pepa in Granados's Goyescas in 1916 and the Princess in Suor Angelica in 1918. After a season in Chicago she returned to Italy in 1925, singing mainly at Rome's Teatro Costanzi. In 1917 she recorded the Rigoletto quartet with Caruso.
