Eva von der Osten

Birthplace: Helgoland, then a British colony (now Schleswig-Holstein, Germany)
A German soprano who spent her whole career with the Dresden company, from her debut there in 1902 to her retirement in 1927, by which time she had made some 2,500 stage appearances. She sang much of the soprano repertory and created Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier in 1911. In 1923 and 1924 she toured North America with Leo Blech's German Opera Company, with particular success as Isolde. She was married to the bass-baritone Friedrich Plaschke, who sang in the same company, and after leaving the stage she stayed on at Dresden as a producer.
