Domenico Oliva
Birthplace: Turin, Kingdom of Sardinia
An Italian journalist, critic and poet. Born in Turin to a Neapolitan family, he studied law at Parma and practised in Milan before joining the Corriere della Sera as a literary critic in 1888. In 1890 he worked with Marco Praga on the libretto of Manon Lescaut, which passed through several more hands. He was deputy for Parma from 1897 and edited the Corriere from 1898 to 1900. From 1901 to 1913 he was the widely read drama critic of the Giornale d'Italia in Rome. A founder of the Italian Nationalist Association, he later edited its L'Idea Nazionale.
