Guglielmo Niola
An Italian singer who began in baritone parts and settled into comic bass roles. He sang at Parma in 1901 and at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples from 1902, and at Covent Garden in Andrea Chénier in 1905 and Germania in 1907. From 1911 he spent most seasons at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, singing Happy in the house's first La fanciulla del West and later Don Bartolo to Titta Ruffo's Figaro. In 1916 he sang Don Pasquale in a gala at the Paris Opéra, and in 1920 he created Rambaldo in the revised La rondine at Palermo.
