Michele Mazzara

An Italian bass who created Colline in the first La bohème at the Teatro Regio in Turin on 1 February 1896. The season before he had been Hagen in the Regio's Götterdämmerung under Toscanini, a part he took to the Teatro Costanzi in Rome in 1897 and to Bologna in 1898. At the Regio he also sang Diumatseno in Canti's Savitri in 1896 and the novelist and Fouquier-Tinville in Turin's first Andrea Chénier that December, and in Rome in 1897 he was Alvise in La Gioconda and Samuel in Un ballo in maschera.
