Pio Marini

An Italian bass who shared Gualtiero with Agostino Lanzoni in the first Edgar at La Scala on 21 April 1889, and sang in the opera again at the Teatro del Giglio in Lucca in 1891, with Puccini at the rehearsals. He was singing in Rome by 1876 and was Apollo in Alceste at Bologna in 1888. At La Scala he created the Mufti in Gomes's Condor and the innkeeper in Samara's Lionella in 1891, and in 1898 he was an apostle in the first performances of Perosi's oratorio La trasfigurazione di Nostro Signore Gesù Cristo in Venice.
