Ignazio Marini

Ignazio Marini was an Italian bass with a vast repertory in Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti. He made his debut at Brescia in 1832 and was then engaged at La Scala, where he created the title role of Verdi's Oberto and in 1844 sang Silva in the revised Ernani. He created the title role of Attila at La Fenice in 1846, sang at Covent Garden from 1847 to 1849, and appeared in New York, Havana and St Petersburg, where in 1862 he was the Alcalde in the first La forza del destino. He was married to the soprano Antonietta Rainieri-Marini.
