Antonio Magini-Coletti
Birthplace: Jesi, Papal States
An Italian baritone of wide repertory and the first Frank in Edgar. He studied at the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, making his debut at the Teatro Costanzi in 1880. He retrained as a tenor but without success, and returned to baritone roles, becoming known as Escamillo. He joined La Scala in 1887, created Frank there in 1889, and in 1901 sang in the house's first Le maschere. His roles ran from Donizetti to Wagner, and he sang at the Metropolitan Opera and in South America and Russia. He last appeared as Iago, at Reggio Emilia in 1910.
