A Spanish soprano who became a noted singing teacher in Milan. She trained in Barcelona, worked her way through the smaller Italian theatres, and from 1920 sang at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome, where in 1922 she created Giorgetta in the second version of Il tabarro. Toscanini brought her to La Scala as Sieglinde, and there she sang Alice Ford, the Marschallin and the Countess, and in 1927 created Dolly in Wolf-Ferrari's Sly. She retired in 1945 and opened a singing school in Milan, where her pupils included Renata Scotto, Fiorenza Cossotto and Alfredo Kraus.
