Mila Kupfer-Berger

Mila Kupfer-Berger was an Austrian dramatic soprano who spent a decade in the Vienna Court Opera ensemble. Trained at the Vienna Conservatory, she made her stage debut at Linz in 1871 aged eighteen and was engaged the same year at the Berlin Court Opera. A guest appearance at the Vienna Court Opera in 1875 won her an immediate engagement there, where she created Micaëla in that year's Carmen and went on to sing Aida, Elsa in Lohengrin and Elisabeth in Tannhäuser. She toured Italy, Spain, England and South America before retiring in 1897 to teach voice.
