A French baritone, actor and photographer who created Saint-Phar, the French Alcindoro, in the Paris premiere of La bohème at the Opéra- Comique on 13 June 1898. As an actor, under the name Marcel, he spent three years at the Théâtre du Gymnase and played Maffio Orsini in Hugo's Lucrèce Borgia at the Gaîté in 1881, and from 1886 kept a photography studio at Saint-Mandé. At the Opéra-Comique he created La Fare in Messager's Le chevalier d'Harmental in 1896 and La Borderie in Massenet's Sapho in 1897. He taught singing, and his son H. Maurice Jacquet was a composer.
