Elfriede Haberkorn

Elfriede Haberkorn was a German contralto who began her career at the Deutsche Oper Berlin around 1918, appearing there as Parthenis in Die schöne Helena and a Flower Maiden in Parsifal. She later joined the Dresden State Opera ensemble, creating the Notary's Wife in the premiere of Strauss's Intermezzo in 1924, the Third Actor in the premiere of Kurt Weill's Der Protagonist in 1926 and the Third Elf in the premiere of Strauss's Die ägyptische Helena in 1928, and singing smaller roles there including Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana, Curra in La forza del destino and Marcellina in Le nozze di Figaro. In 1930 she married the bass Adolph Schöpflin.
