Rita Gabussi

Rita Gabussi was an Italian soprano, born in Bologna, who studied singing in Milan with Teresa Bertinotti. Her first great success was the title role of Coppola's Nina pazza per amore at Bologna in 1835, and in 1844 she had another at La Scala as Elvira in the revised Ernani. She sang regularly at the San Carlo in Naples, the Pergola in Florence and the Valle in Rome, and at the San Carlo created the title role of Mercadante's Medea in 1851. She married the baritone Achille De Bassini. She retired early and lived in Naples.
