Erminia Frezzolini was an Italian soprano who created Giselda in Verdi's I Lombardi alla prima crociata at La Scala in 1843 and the title role of his Giovanna d'Arco there in 1845, with her husband, the tenor Antonio Poggi, as Charles VII. The daughter and pupil of the bass Giuseppe Frezzolini, she made her debut in Florence in 1837 as Beatrice di Tenda. She sang in London, North America, St Petersburg and Madrid, and in 1857 gave the first Gilda and the first Leonora in Il trovatore in France, at the Théâtre-Italien. Her smooth legato went with power and brilliance.
