Anny Felbermayer

Anny Felbermayer was an Austrian lyric soprano who studied privately in Vienna before continuing at the Vienna Music Academy from 1945 to 1948 under P. Mark-Neusser and, in its opera school, Josef Witt. She made her debut in 1950 as a servant in Flotow's Martha, joined the Vienna State Opera and remained a member until 1982, singing 54 roles in 979 performances there, and also appeared at La Scala, La Monnaie, the Liceu and the Salzburg Festival. Her repertoire included Barbarina and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos and Zdenka in Arabella, and she created Xanthe in the premiere of Strauss's Die Liebe der Danae, conducted by Clemens Krauss at the 1952 Salzburg Festival. She was made an Austrian Kammersängerin in 1983.
