Minnie Egener
An American mezzo-soprano who gave some 750 performances at the Metropolitan Opera. She made her debut there on Christmas Eve 1903 as a Flower Maiden in the first American Parsifal, and in 1906 went to Italy, where she sang Alisa to Luisa Tetrazzini's Lucia at Parma in 1910. After four years with the Philadelphia-Chicago company, she returned to the Met in 1914 as a comprimario, creating one of the two alms-seeking nuns in Suor Angelica. She recorded the Lucia sextet with Caruso and Galli-Curci, sang her farewell as Flora in 1932, and taught afterwards. She married the conductor Louis Hasselmans.
