Alice Ducasse

Alice Ducasse was a French soprano, born in Valparaíso, who spent the 1860s with the Théâtre Lyrique as it gave the first performances of much new French opera. Under Léon Carvalho she was the first Mab in Bizet's La jolie fille de Perth, and under Jules Pasdeloup in 1869 created roles for Guiraud, Ernest Boulanger and Joncières. At the Opéra-Comique she created Léna in Saint-Saëns's La princesse jaune and, eight years after her first Bizet premiere, Frasquita in Carmen. She left the stage in 1882 and taught singing thereafter.
