Anna D'Angeri
also Anna Angermayer de Redenburg
Birthplace: Vienna, Austrian Empire
Anna D'Angeri was a soprano, born Anna Angermayer de Redenburg in Vienna, who made her career in Italy. She studied with Mathilde Marchesi, made her debut as Sélika in L'Africaine at the Teatro Sociale in Mantua, and sang with great success at the Vienna Hofoper until 1880. In London from 1874 she sang Ortrud and Venus in the British premieres of Lohengrin and Tannhäuser. At La Scala she created the title role of Gomes's Maria Tudor and, chosen by Verdi, Amelia in the revised Simon Boccanegra. Her marriage and retirement came too soon for her to be his Desdemona.
