Giulio Crimi
Birthplace: Paternò, Kingdom of Italy
An Italian tenor who created leading parts in two of the three operas of Puccini's Trittico. He studied at Catania and made his debut at Palermo in 1910 in Il trovatore, then sang across Italy and, from 1914, in Paris and London. He created Paolo in Zandonai's Francesca da Rimini at Turin in 1914, sang in Buenos Aires and Chicago from 1916, and at the Metropolitan Opera on 14 December 1918 created Luigi in Il tabarro and Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi. He last sang at Genoa on 31 December 1927 and taught in Rome, where Tito Gobbi was his pupil.
