Augusto Castagnola

An Italian bass in supporting parts, on the stage from at least 1879 to 1899. In the 1885-86 season at La Fenice in Venice he was the King in Aida and Schwarz in the premiere of Serponti's Leonora. In 1887 he sang Duncan in the premiere of Pontoglio's Edoardo Stuart in Milan. On 1 February 1893 he created the innkeeper in Manon Lescaut at the Teatro Regio in Turin, repeating it in Rome in 1894 and in Turin in 1895, and in 1899 at Parma he was Montano in Otello, Walton in I puritani and Grenvil in La traviata.
