Linda Cannetti
Birthplace: Legnago, Kingdom of Italy
An Italian soprano who sang the Italian premieres of two Strauss operas. She studied in Milan and Verona and made her debut at Fossombrone in 1899 in Faust. Her marriage to the tenor Francesco Bravi and his death in the Messina earthquake of 1908 interrupted her career; on resuming she sang Chrysothemis in the first Italian Elektra at La Scala, and the first Italian Feuersnot in 1913. She created the title role of Zandonai's Francesca da Rimini at Turin in 1914, and Magda in the second version of La rondine at Palermo in 1920. She retired in 1928.
