Birthplace: Monza, Italy
An Italian tenor and conductor, born in Monza. He studied piano and composition at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Milan and singing with Vittorio Terranova and Fiorella Pediconi, and in 1994 created Gobin in the long-delayed premiere of the third version of La rondine at the Teatro Regio in Turin. As a tenor he sang leading roles such as Cavaradossi and Radamès at La Scala, the Arena di Verona, the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Los Angeles Opera. In 2013 he turned to conducting with Verdi's Requiem at Asti, and in 2015 he was music director of the Teatro di Milano.
