Luigi Bolpagni

A baritone in character parts, who created the imperial commissioner in the revised Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Grande in Brescia on 28 May 1904. He is next found as Marullo at the Teatro Regio in Parma in 1917, and in the 1920s sang mainly at Bologna and Turin. He created the squire in Alfano's La leggenda di Sakùntala at Bologna in 1921 and the judge in Lualdi's La figlia del re at Turin in 1922, and his other parts included Marco in Gianni Schicchi, Alidoro in La Cenerentola and Altoum in Turandot. He was still singing in 1931.
