Geremia Bettini was an Italian tenor who created Mastro Trabuco in Verdi's La forza del destino at St Petersburg in 1862. Born near Novara, he first made his name at Marseille in 1850, and in 1853 had a brilliant success as Manrico in the first Il trovatore at La Scala. He sang at St Petersburg in 1856–57, in Paris and Trieste in 1858 and at the Teatro Apollo in Rome in 1859–60, and appeared in Vienna, Madrid and America. His roles included Ernani, Riccardo, Pollione, Gennaro and Meyerbeer's Robert. He died at Novara in 1865.
