Margit Angerer

Margit Angerer was a Hungarian soprano who studied at the Budapest Academy and made her debut at the Vienna State Opera in 1926 as Leonora in La forza del destino. She remained there until 1938, singing roles as varied as Pamina, Tosca, Elsa, Eva, Octavian and Marguerite, and appeared regularly at the Salzburg Festival in operas by Strauss, creating Aithra in the revised Die ägyptische Helena there in 1933. She also sang Octavian at Covent Garden in 1931. She moved to London in 1938 and continued her career as a concert singer.
