Giuseppe Adami
Birthplace: Verona, Kingdom of Italy
An Italian playwright and librettist who wrote three libretti for Puccini. He took a law degree at Padua and turned to the theatre, writing comedies and reviewing for the Arena in Verona before Giulio Ricordi introduced him to Puccini in 1911. He adapted La rondine from a German operetta text, wrote Il tabarro and, with Renato Simoni, Turandot, which Puccini left unfinished. He published the first collection of Puccini's letters in 1928 and one of the earliest biographies in 1935, both drawing on what he had seen at first hand.
